Welcome to Drug Therapy Options

The purpose of this web site is to provide you with information on where to find rehabilitation, treatment or therapy for drug and alcohol addictions.

Addictions come in many forms and though the disease of addiction is defined the same way no matter what different types of drugs you are using the reason behind the substance abuse must be addressed or else complete recovery wont be possible.

Ways To Heal

Getting the proper drug addiction therapy will require a little knowledge about the options you have.

Inpatient Therapy

Generally this type of therapy is conducted in an inpatient rehabilitation center. Inpatient refers to hospitalization or partial hospitalization treatment. Despite the name not all inpatient programs are in a hospital or hospital setting. Most are designed in a residential environment where you are treated more like a guest than a patient. After all if you don't feel comfortable in your environment you are much less likely to be open to the therapy being offered.

Often Inpatient Therapy is an option when you need detox. If you think you may need detox visit our find a detox page.

Residential Therapy

This is a situation where there are no doctors involved in your therapy. In a residential therapeutic community the support is other recovering addicts, chemical dependency therapists and emotional therapists. These programs are typically 2-6 weeks in length and usually offer much longer term therapies of a few months to a few years. It all depends on what you need as an individual to completely free yourself from the chains of addiction.

Outpatient Therapy

This type of therapy is typically conducted in your local community. Depending on your specific needs it can be once a week to once a day. being "outpatient" simply means you are not living in a recovery community. You are free to work, stay at home and engage with family and friends. Typically for most people with drug problems Outpatient therapy is a second step after residential or inpatient therapy.
